Ultimate Brunch Burger with Jalapeño Bacon Jam

This indulgent brunch burger combines the best of breakfast and lunch with two perfectly smashed beef patties, topped with a sunny-side-up egg and homemade jalapeño bacon jam.

Ingredients

For the Jalapeño Bacon Jam:

  • 10 slices bacon
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 3-6 jalapeños, diced (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • All-purpose seasoning to taste

For the Burgers:

  • 1 lb 80/20 ground beef
  • 2 brioche hamburger buns
  • 4-8 slices deli-style American cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • All-purpose seasoning
  • Beef bouillon powder
  • Butter for cooking
  • Mayo and ketchup for serving

Step 1: Make the Jalapeño Bacon Jam

Add bacon to a cold skillet and cook until fat is rendered and bacon is crispy.

Step 2: Complete the Jam

Add brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, maple syrup, garlic, smoked paprika, and seasonings.

Cook until reduced and thickened, then add bacon back in and simmer for 5-10 minutes until jam consistency is reached.

Step 3: Prepare the Burger Patties

Divide 80/20 ground beef into four equal portions and form into balls.

Heat skillet with butter and cook patties until crusty on both sides.
