Here’s the main room — cozy mix of rustic beams and clean modern lines.

These old timber beams are gorgeous. anyone know if they’re original to the house?

Blush bathroom with a pedestal sink — that frosted oval mirror kinda slaps.

Little reading nook vibes — beams overhead, off-white walls, handcrafted side table tucked left.

Okay, this angle — weathered beams look great, but maybe a touch busy?

Creamy walls and big beams again. I mean, it’s cozy, just slightly dramatic.

Here’s the kitchen nook — white marble, super minimal cabinets. Real marble or quartz?

From this angle, the compact white kitchen looks bright. gray counters keep it calm.

And then kitchen goes rustic-meets-modern — beams with cream cabinets. Cute, maybe a bit?

Details
This apartment, located in Rouen, Normandy, is about 420 square feet and is 150 years old. The owners, Marissa Cox and her partner Victor, purchased it because they were looking for a weekend home they could also rent out. Cox, who runs an interior design studio, wanted to preserve the historic features while updating the space.
The main living area, dining area, and kitchen are painted in Farrow & Ball's School House White for a warm, cohesive feel. The kitchen was originally a cupboard and had to be significantly reconfigured to fit all the necessities, including IKEA cabinets with custom fronts from Plum Living. A vintage marble fireplace surround was added to create a focal point in the living space. The bathroom was also reconfigured to allow for a larger kitchen, resulting in a walk-in shower instead of a bathtub. The original staircase to the bedroom was replaced with a prefabricated one. The bedroom, located upstairs, is painted in Farrow & Ball's Lulworth Blue to create a cozy atmosphere, and features built-in cupboards that blend seamlessly with the walls. The apartment is also designed to be shoppable, with a catalog of items available for guests to view and purchase.
