This House Has A Skateable Pool And Ramp Flooring
This is a mid-century home in Los Angeles’s Highland Park neighborhood. The backyard features a kidney-shaped swimming pool that was designed by Blue Haven, known for their skateable pools.
The interior designer worked with the owner to incorporate Richlite, a material used for skate ramp surfaces, as flooring in some areas. The design also drew inspiration from Finnish designer Alvar Aalto, with color-blocked kitchen cabinets echoing the Paimio Sanatorium.

Inside. white walls, wood ceiling, simple furniture. Calm but not cold.

Okay, this bathroom — tiny square tiles everywhere, beige and white. Big tub, very spa.

Floating wood vanity looks clean. Hidden drawers, crisp lighting. Anyone know that faucet brand?

Here's the bedroom — rust duvet, white pillows, warm walls. Cozy without trying.

And then this partition. red/teal/orange sliders with wood. Why this combo?

Pink tub cameo! Vintage shape with a low platform and glass screen. Cute.

Another angle — teal sectional plus a round red chair. Color math checks out.

Here's the kitchen-dining — light wood everywhere, pastel cabinets. Mint, orange, blue vibes.

Second kitchen? From this angle, big window, warm wood, little color pops. Not mad.

Entry hits hard — giant flower wall hanging, green backdrop. Cheerful, almost cartoon.

Back outside. bright green facade, clean lines. I mean, cool. but maybe too much?

Details
This mid-century home in Los Angeles's Highland Park neighborhood offers a unique blend of architectural style and active lifestyle elements. Professional skater Lizzie Armanto purchased the property in 2021, drawn by its distinctive Blue Haven kidney-shaped pool, which is known for being skateable. Although the pool required reconstruction, Armanto hosted friends for sessions in it after it was drained. Inside, the home features Richlite flooring in certain areas, a material typically used for skate ramp surfaces, offering a subtle nod to her passion that is appreciated by fellow skaters.
The interior design, a collaboration with Hannah Go of Studio Hanego, was influenced by Finnish designer Alvar Aalto. This is evident in the color-blocked kitchen cabinets, inspired by Aalto's Paimio Sanatorium, and the overall free-form aesthetic reminiscent of Aalto's Villa Mairea. The kitchen itself is designed for functionality, with a built-in bench offering storage and the ability to be reconfigured. The home also features artwork and personal touches, including a commissioned quilt by Ben Venom honoring a mentor and a coffee table containing a miniature replica of a famous skate pool, made by skateboarding legend Lance Mountain.
The guest bathroom is a playful space designed around Armanto's dog, Alma, with a pink and pistachio color scheme. Storage is a key element, with custom built-ins in the entryway for an extensive sneaker collection and cabinets in the primary bedroom. The bed frame in the primary bedroom is a nod to the cardboard beds used during the Tokyo Olympics. The property also boasts a thriving garden and a pool house that doubles as an office. Armanto describes the home as a significant personal achievement, a place she finds very nice and encourages embracing opportunities, even when they seem daunting.hou
