A sitting U.S. Representative just displayed a highly personal image during an official House hearing.

The move immediately generated controversy and reignited a very public and contentious battle.

Setting the Scene: A Hearing on Surveillance

Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace of South Carolina took a dramatic step during a House Oversight subcommittee hearing on Tuesday.

The hearing was focused on “surveillance in private spaces,” a topic Mace and others on the panel argue needs stronger legal protections.

Lawmakers are pushing for legislation aimed at helping victims of non-consensual recordings and sexual misconduct.

This isn’t the first time Mace has spoken publicly about deeply personal allegations.

In February, she delivered a “scorched earth” speech on the House floor.

During that speech, she accused four men, including her former fiancé Patrick Bryant, of sexual abuse and other sex crimes.

She used an easel displaying their photos and labeled them “PREDATORS.”

All four men have consistently denied her allegations.

The accusations have led to legal action, including a defamation lawsuit filed against Mace by one of the accused, Brian Musgrave.

Mace has also filed her own defamation suit against another individual she accused, Eric Bowman.

The Ex-Fiancé’s Strong Denials

Patrick Bryant, Mace’s ex-fiancé, has repeatedly and emphatically denied her claims.

In a statement released Tuesday, he “categorically denied” the allegations.

He called them “false and outrageous.”

I categorically deny the false and outrageous claims made by Nancy Mace. I have never raped anyone. I have never hidden cameras. I have never harmed any woman. These accusations are not just false. They are malicious and deeply personal. My mistake was loving and trusting someone who later weaponized our relationship.Patrick Bryant statement

He stated he would take further steps “at the right time” to clear his name.

Bryant also suggested Mace’s claims are made under the protection of congressional immunity.

If she believed them to be true and there was evidence to support her accusations, she would say them outside the chamber, away from her public role and protections, and pursue them through proper legal channels.Patrick Bryant statement

He claimed “multiple witnesses” contradict her story under oath.

Hinting at the Display

Ahead of the hearing, Mace posted on X, signaling her intentions.

She wrote that she would show her “naked body” from a video she claimed Bryant took without her knowledge or permission.

She referred to him as a “predator and rapist.”

Her post emphasized her legislative goal: holding alleged offenders accountable.

The Moment in the Hearing

During the Tuesday hearing, Mace displayed an image on an easel behind her.

The image was a still, appearing to show a silhouetted figure.

She pointed to a yellow circle on the image.

She told the committee, “This naked silhouette is my naked body.”

Mace alleged the image came from a video her former fiancé recorded using a “secret camera.”

She stressed that she did not know she was being filmed and did not give consent or permission.

She claimed Bryant saved this particular video for over three years without her knowledge.

Mace described his alleged actions, which she claimed included filming other nude women and “rape,” as “creepy” and “criminal.”

A state investigation by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) into Bryant is reportedly ongoing, though details are limited.

The decision to display the image drew commentary, with Ron Filipkowski, editor-in-chief of the MeidasTouch Network, questioning on X whether the point could have been made differently.

Mace concluded her statements by reiterating her commitment to advocating for victims.

Meanwhile, Mace is reportedly considering a run for Governor of South Carolina in 2026.
