Details

Designer Galeana Younger transformed this 1929 cottage, affectionately nicknamed "Casita Chica," into a vibrant and personal sanctuary for her 77-year-old mother. The house, located in San Antonio’s Monte Vista neighborhood, underwent a significant renovation to cater specifically to its resident's tastes and collections. The design emphasizes bold colors, rich patterns, and layered textures, creating a space that is both vivacious and relaxing. Custom millwork, particularly in the library, kitchen, and pantry, was a significant investment, providing ample storage for the owner's extensive collections of art, textiles, and family heirlooms. The former breakfast room was reimagined as a stylish bar and seating area, perfect for hosting gatherings. Throughout the home, vintage finds and family treasures are thoughtfully integrated with newly acquired or reupholstered furniture, blurring the lines between old and new. The powder room features a striking "Everyday Lips" wallpaper and red velvet doors, while the bedroom is designed to feel regal and dramatic, with a custom canopy and vibrant draperies. An additional space, originally an extra bedroom, now serves as a functional "cloffice" and laundry area, meticulously designed to house the owner's impressive collection of Mexican clothing and accessories.
